Collection: Nanny's Lace & Trinket dishes
My Nanny Balsor is a maker. She was always making, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and crafting. Making was a way in which her and I connected and before her stroke she would always enjoy coming to my art shows and supporting me. This work is not only a tribute to her but a way for me to continue to connect with her.
I use one of her crocheted doilies to impress into the clay and then make little trinket dishes or bowls from them. So much fun to make as the clay takes such a great impression. I've been growing my collection of handmade doilies from other family members and other peoples grandmothers. The love, care and pride that went in to making these decorative doilies is a charming piece of history that I love connecting with.
